Alex Sherman - Celtic Motifs

Contemporary Celtic Motifs and artwork are aesthetically attractive and strong in design and symmetry with striking rhythm and momentum.

Alex Sherman has been creating new and 100% original and contemporary Celtic designs since 1993. Many of the designs on this site are also featured in the new book - ‘Contemporary Celtic Motifs’.

Celtic artwork is amongst the oldest tribal and ethnic styled art in existence and perhaps has the longest life-span, as it remains an evolving and popular style to this day due to its adaptability.

The style has evolved over thousands of years throughout western Europe. Originally very basic, it was cut into stone and probably wood but continued to develop and become more complex though time. It is best known now through the Book of Kells and similar texts.

This artwork is my own modern interpretation of the Celtic style that continues to evolve and develop.
